Before we starting shooting for the Dance Study session more than a month ago, DeAunna had ask me which outfit did I wanna shoot first. If you’ve seen the last two entries of her session (which can be conveniently be found here and here), that was the first outfit that I wanted to get her into for photos. But as she was sitting in the outfit that she already came in, I looked at it and decided a few seconds later that she would start with what she had on. It looked really nice and would still work even with her pointe shoes on.
Once we started I had her out on a cobblestone street, and then quickly realized (once more) that pointe shoes and cobblestone are arch-enemies. So I moved her onto the sidewalk and asked what she was able to do in the location I gave her. Immediately she found a street sign that she wanted to work with and started to get myself set up to shoot. This one was my favorite in the sequence of shots that I took of her. I loved the way how her feet arched in this shot, as well as her braids coming straight down while arching her back. I had thought about leaving this one in color but I love the black & white with a little tint of color and how that black & white allowed for the texture to be visible in the sidewalk, the brick building, and her braids.
Hopefully I will have the pleasure of photographing her one more when her schedule no longer is includes school. Enjoy!
